Years ago a dear friend, who I never see anymore, told me one of the wisest things I had ever heard concerning the interviewing of software developers. He said that only HR and non-technical assholes ask specific language syntax questions. Dave Grobleski is wise  beyond his years!

By not specifically testing on syntax the interviewer can coax the applicant into showing off knowledge without the Minutiae of language. To be fair I am useless without IntelliSense.
